New Moon in Libra
October 16, 2020
Balancing the Scales
The moon, our emotions, memories and safety, completes a full cycle through the zodiac every 28 days. This cycle begins with the new moon, when we cannot see the moon in the sky, this void symbolizing the limitless potential of new beginnings. The cycle peaks roughly two weeks later at the full moon, when we see the moon brightest and fullest in the sky, this light symbolizing form, which must now collapse back into the void of the new moon and begin again.
In Libra, the moon always pulls us toward focus on interpersonal connections, relationships and fairness. Libra naturally rules the 7th house of relationships. When the moon is in this fair Venusian sign, we want to work together, harmonize and create balance.
When the void of possibility that is the new moon falls within the sign of Libra, it’s a wonderful time to start new relationships, romantic and platonic alike.
It’s also a wonderful time to make amends and tend to old relationship wounds. This is a fresh start in our relationships, for new and old alike. Look within and decide if you feel like you have enough mutual support in your relationships. If the answer is no, now is a wonderful time to honestly look at how companionable you, yourself are, and areas that you could work on being in more equitable and fair relationships.
Libra is cardinal air.
Cardinal is the trailblazer.
In astrology it is the mode that begins the seasons.
You’ll find the four cardinal signs at all four points:
Spring Equinox (Aries - Fire - West)
Summer Solstice (Cancer - Water - South)
Fall Equinox (Libra - Air - East)
Winter Solstice (Capricorn - Earth - North)
Air is the element of thought, communication and relationships.
Trailblazing air and a trailblazing moon make this a time for powerful intentions*.
